P. S. On Monday (Oct. 3) ALM will become digital only. Robert Ambrogi wrote a wonderful eulogy on his Law Sites blog: “One of the oldest legal newspapers in the United States is publishing its last issue today. San Francisco’s The Recorder, published since 1857, will exist only in digital format after today’s issue. http://bit.ly/2djepVE.
On a personal note, I started my legal journalism career at The Recorder and it was a great ride. I’m certainly a zealot for change—and have embraced the nuances and flexibility of the Internet—and I’m grateful for the many iterations of ALM that I experienced—but a part of me will still miss that paper.
