The Law of Artificial Intelligence and Smart Machines: Understanding A.I. and the Legal Impact
It’s delightful to see the fruits of one’s labor come to fruition. This book, published by the ABA’s Business Law Section contains 29 chapters, 756 pages and multiple authors. It is the first of its kind and its “just” the first edition. There’s already more to add and I look forward to contributing to the next iteration. Yes, this was a lot of work, but when you have fun, strike that, when you are passionate about the topics you’re writing about it truly is a remarkably rewarding experience.
My two chapters in this book are, in some respects, the product of nearly a decade of gestation as a research fellow here at SLS. Research is a journey and the destination is creativity, not any specific end-point. Research contains a holographic, fractal-like quality; fueled by insatiable curiosity and a no-fear attitude. And when it comes to writing about the legal implications of a paradigm-shifting technology, these traits are indispensable.
