President Donald Trump‘s revenge tour is creating a problem for congressional Republicans.

Every threat against a TV network is a campaign ad waiting to happen. He has floated pulling broadcaster licenses from outlets that give him “bad publicity,” and he has publicly prodded his attorney general to pursue cases against perceived enemies.

That posture plays well with a segment of the Republican base, but as we head into the 2026 midterm elections, it also creates real electoral and legal risk for Republicans down ballot who will be forced to answer for it.
