Updated Feb. 1 to add additional panelist.  ALM’s Legaltech New York has again invited CodeX to present two “Legal Innovation Lightning Round” sessions at Legaltech New York, which kicks off Tuesday (Feb. 2-4, 2016) at the Hilton Midtown, reports Roland Vogl, Executive Director of CodeX: The Stanford Center for Legal Informatics. More good news: ALM is offering discounted tickets for friends of CodeX. Just use the registration code LTNY16D  to enjoy a $100 discount on a master pass to Legaltech.

But there’s more good news! “ALM has generously offered prime exhibitor space to a group of eight innovative early stage legal tech companies from the circle of CodeX friends,” said Vogl. “These companies will have the opportunity to exhibit their products during the show at the CodeX Pavilion.”

Each company will also participate in the “CodeX Legal Innovation Lightning Rounds,” on Feb. 4, 2016 (Session 1: 10.30 a.m.–11.45 a.m.; Session 2: 12:15 p.m.–1.30 p.m.), said Vogl, who will serve as moderator of both panels.

PAVILION EXHIBITORS
The eight CodeX Pavilion exhibitors represent a variety of innovative technologies and processes that help legal professionals enhance their work and create better work product for their clients, explained Vogl. They include:

ArbiClaims, an online small claims court alternative.
Casetext, a legal research company where lawyers can read cases, statutes, and regulations that are annotated by the entire legal community.
ClearstoneIP, a new platform for conducting product clearance, freedom to operate, and patent infringement-based analyses.
Concord, a free cloud-based contract lifecycle management tool that provides a new way to create, negotiate, sign, and manage contracts.
LawGives helps users find affordable legal help from lawyers in 100+ cities. It’s collaborative Legal.io platform provides lawyers with new ways to engage with clients more effectively.
Legal Robot provides automated legal document review using machine learning.
Lit IQ uses computational linguistics to detect drafting oversights ahead of time, limiting risk and the potential for disputes.
SmartContract provides programmable contracts that are secured in the blockchain as self-executing contractual states.

LIGHTNING ROUNDS

The announced speakers at the Lightening Rounds include:
Stephen Kane, (ArbiClaims), Jake Heller (Casetext), Gabriel Sukman (ClearstoneIP), Dan Rubins (Legal Robot) and Tony Lai (Legal.io) in the morning panel.

The afternoon panel will include presenters Daniel and Michael Friedmann (123recht.net and more); Matt Lhoumeau (Concord); Sergey Nazarov (SmartContract) and Gurinder “Garry” Sangha (Lit IQ).

Judges at the Lightening Rounds include Ralph Baxter, former chairman and CEO of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, and now an advisor for Thomson Reuters Legal, Stanford Law, Harvard Law and the Georgetown Law School Center for the Study of the Legal Profession; Joseph Borstein, global director, Pangea3 and columnist for Above The Law; and moi.
