If you haven’t heard (looking at you fellow 1Ls), SPILF Auction is the event of the year. Luckily for you, we’re warming up for the main event with SPILF Happy Hour donation/fund-raiser in the Law Lounge on Thursday 2/23. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and free with a donation*. For the price of entry, you will get to enjoy a photo booth, and beer, wine, and the well drink chosen by the winning group.
Winning group?! That’s right, not only is this an open bar you don’t have to take an Uber Lyft to, its also a competition. The 1L Section or class (2Ls, 3Ls, and LLMs) with the most tickets purchased gets to choose the mixed drink that we will be serving. Isn’t that neat?
The point of this bar review is to get awesome donations from you and to raise money to put on the main event—the Auction! In addition to being the best night you’ll have all year, the auction raises money to fund incredible student initiatives like Project ReMade, the burgeoning Women in Politics Initiative, and the Stanford Prisoner Advocacy and Resources Coalition. Last year we raised close to $47,000 to support the amazing public interest work Stanford does, and this year we want to set new records to support this critical yet underfunded work.
*To make all this ca$h, we need something to auction off. A big part of the SPILF auction is student donations from y’all. Past student items have included homemade foodstuffs (kombucha, granola, cookies, Russian breakfast), lessons in your special unique skills (Rubik’s cube solving, boating, stick shift driving, salsa dancing, knitting, swimming, powerlifting, photography, Spanish), rides to different fun experiences like hiking or beachgoing, and services like a photography session, kind daily facebook posts, airport rides, and personal bodyguards. More inspo here.
Donations can be made by filling out the attached form and emailing it back to eahayes@stanford.edu or ehawley2@stanford.edu
