Biography
LI You (Leo) is a J.S.D. candidate at Stanford Law School, supervised by Prof. David Freeman Engstrom. His research interests include comparative judicial systems, financial regulation, law and technology, and empirical legal studies. Currently, he is conducting comparative studies between the U.S. and China on the institutional designs of courts and regulatory agencies, under the digital transformation, to promote access to justice in high-volume financial disputes.
Before pursuing the J.S.D., Leo obtained a J.S.M. from Stanford Law School as a SPILS fellow, an LL.M. from University of Pennsylvania, and an LL.B. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He has presented his research at the Conference on Empirical Legal Studies (CELS), Annual Meeting of Law and Society (ALAS), among other academic conferences. His articles have been published in Chinese journals including the China Law Review and SJTU Law Review. During his time at Stanford, he has been awarded the John Hart Ely Prize for Outstanding Performance and research funding from the Stanford Center on China’s Economy and Institutions (SCCEI). He is admitted into the New York Bar Association and holds the Legal Professional Qualification Certificate of the People’s Republic of China.
