Biography
Mr. Greg Berkin, MBA is Senior Cybersecurity Advisor to FTI Consulting, Inc., a global provider of cybersecurity, risk management, and investigation advisory services. He also serves as Fellow at the Stanford Center for Responsible Quantum Technology at Stanford University.
Berkin’s in-depth technical expertise is in cybersecurity and enterprise investigations as a computer scientist, applications programmer, hardware engineer, and security expert in a wide range of computing device, network and information systems and global standards.
At FTI Cybersecurity, Berkin’s intelligence-driven approaches to complex cyber and information technology challenges help to manage critical consequential enterprise decisions. Matters range from systems analysis, ransomware, spyware, network intrusions, cryptocurrency scams, application hacks and sensitive data vulnerabilities while supporting associated litigation. Clientele include multinational corporations, top law firms, small/medium enterprises, digital studios, high net worth individuals, high profile celebrities and more.
In 2015, Mr. Berkin was invited to participate in the first-ever FBI CISO Academy at Quantico, VA. This invitation-only group of thirty Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) of Silicon Valley companies gathered to collaborate on cybersecurity challenges, initiatives and global standards.
In 2010, Berkin founded Concours Ventures, a boutique angel capital and private equity group accelerating startups with an investment focus on mobile, internet, and smart devices in a wide range of sectors. Portfolio investment areas include cybersecurity, data encryption, AI/artificial intelligence/machine learning, quantum computing, augmented, mixed and virtual reality, internet of things, blockchain, streaming media, among others.
Mr. Berkin has advised newly emerging ventures from Stanford, Berkeley, and Duke University’s accelerator, incubation, and enterprise programs, taking on roles in their evolution and growth.
Berkin is a frequent speaker in the Silicon Valley startup community, discussing emerging trends in computing and smart devices. Greg was invited to present at the Stanford Center for Position, Navigation and Time Symposium in 2017. Berkin has also been a regular judge for Stanford’s premier hacking competition known as TreeHacks.
In the late nineties, Mr. Berkin joined Intel Corporation for almost a decade as a senior executive in the Developer Relations Group, the Content Group and the New Business Group. Working alongside Intel Capital, Berkin enabled hundreds of application software developers to produce high performance software for the Pentium, II, III and IV processor-based platforms. Berkin held senior executive roles as senior product marketing engineer, senior technology evangelist, senior software product manager, and as senior spokesperson for Intel platforms, products, and technology initiatives.
Mr. Berkin was recognized as an Intel Achievement Award winner, Intel’s highest honor. He is a past member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) as an active participant of the Technology & Engineering Emmy Award Committee for New Media. Greg Berkin was named one of the twenty most influential DVD technology executives for the innovation of the digital video disc in 2000.
Greg Berkin has also been an Apple certified software developer for four decades, having founded the first educational software company for the new Apple Macintosh computer in 1984. Berkin’s software become worldwide best sellers and award-winners, translated into Spanish, Dutch and other languages bundled with the Apple Macintosh computer in educational markets. Today, Mr. Berkin is an Apple spatial computing developer for the Apple Vision Pro developing new experiences for digital and virtual production studios and virtual reality content.
Berkin is an avid private pilot and an aircraft accident investigator having earned an investigation certificate from the Viterbi School of Engineering at the USC School of Aviation Safety. He is a classic automobile historian, journalist, judge, and specialist having exhibited vintage vehicles at the infamous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance for many years.
Greg Berkin is an accomplished film director and producer, having produced feature films, documentaries, shorts, music videos, television pilots and commercials for over thirty years. Mr. Berkin’s work has been showcased at major film festivals, on streaming platforms and on television. Greg recently was featured on the Fox TV/Disney reality series DOMINO MASTERS, as a competing domino-toppling artist and Rube Goldberg stunt creator.
Greg Berkin is an award-winning dramatic actor, having performed in leading stage roles in musicals, dramas and independent films. Berkin is a private investor in on/off Broadway stage productions as well as hundreds of musical cast albums of celebrated shows.
Greg Berkin earned his Bachelors in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Potsdam in 1986 and his MBA from Duke University in 2001 studying internationally in Europe, Asia, North and South America.
