Mr. Azmy directs litigation advancing civil and human rights, including cases involving discriminatory policing practices, government surveillance, the rights of Guantánamo detainees, and accountability for torture. Before joining CCR, he taught Constitutional Law at Seton Hall University School of Law and directed the Civil Rights and Constitutional Litigation Clinic.

A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and NYU School of Law, where he was a Root-Tilden-Snow Public Interest Scholar, Professor Azmy has argued cases in federal courts across the country and has been named one of the top 500 lawyers in America by Lawdragon since 2012.

Mr. Azmy, the fourth visiting attorney in this distinguished program, will share insights from his work advancing civil liberties and constitutional rights through impact litigation.
