Michael McConnell, Richard and Frances Mallery Professor of Law and faculty director of the Constitutional Law Center, was named to the Financial Times’ inaugural FT Law 50, which recognizes influential figures helping to shape the future of the legal profession. He was among 50 lawyers, scholars, entrepreneurs, and technologists selected for the list.

The Financial Times highlighted McConnell’s 2020 book, The President Who Would Not Be King: Executive Power Under the Constitution (Princeton University Press, 2020), which examines the constitutional limits on presidential authority. It also noted that his scholarship was cited by several justices in the Supreme Court’s decision overturning President Donald Trump’s “liberation day” tariffs. SL
