Professor Fina is Co-Director of the Transatlantic Technology Law Forum at Stanford Law School and a Visiting Professor of Law from University of Vienna School of Law.

Professor Fina is an accomplished European scholar, whose academic work focuses on the business-related and technology-related law and policy of the European Union and the international community as well as on the legal aspects of EU-U.S. trade and the economic governance issues of the transatlantic marketplace. In 2004, he co-founded the Stanford-Vienna Transatlantic Technology Law Forum (TTLF), a joint international initiative and think tank of Stanford Law School and the University of Vienna School of Law, Austria, and has been co-directing the TTLF since then. Professor Fina is also a co-founder and Co-Director of Stanford Law School’s internationally renowned Annual International Professional Certificate Summer Program “Understanding U.S. Intellectual Property Law” for international lawyers. At Stanford Law School, Professor Fina has also developed and directs a series of EU law related initiatives in teaching and research, with an emphasis on the legal framework governing business activities in the EU. These EU law initiatives comprise, among others, an EU Law course, an EU Law Working Paper Series, a Jean Monnet EU Law Research Student Fellowship Program, a Jean Monnet Student Research Paper Prize for EU Law, a directed research program in EU law, and complementary international study opportunities in EU law. Beyond that, Professor Fina serves as Director of the European Union E-Commerce Law Project at the Stanford Center for E-Commerce. For the academic year 2009-2010, he served as the Distinguished Visiting Austrian Chair at Stanford’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies.

In Austria, Professor Fina is a Jean Monnet Professor of European Union Law and Associate Professor of European Union Law and Technology Law at the University of Vienna School of Law, where he directs the Vienna Technology Law Program and the LLM Program in European and International Business Law. He was re-elected six times as Secretary-General of the Austrian Association for European Law and serves on the Board of Directors of the International Federation for European Law (FIDE). He also served as Director of the Department of European Integration at Danube University Krems, Austria, a post-graduate university for advanced degree programs, where he continues his affiliation as an adjunct associate professor of law. In 2009, he was honored by the European Union and awarded one of the EU’s distinguished and prestigious Jean Monnet Chairs for European Union Law for his achievements in research and education in EU law.
