IP Litigation from the Judge’s Perspective

SLATA extends a warm welcome to Judge Fogel, a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California (San Jose).
Prior to being confirmed on the federal bench in 1998, Judge Fogel served as a judge to the Santa Clara County Superior Court from 1986 to 1998. Judge Fogel graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor’s degree in 1971 and later from Harvard Law School in 1974. In recent years, he has taught the course: Psychology of Litigation, at Stanford Law School.
Judge Fogel will address a range of litigation issues – including:
– The working mechanics of a judge’s chambers.
– Jury trials for complex scientific cases.
– Local Patent Rules and how such rules have improved efficiency in patent matters.
– What makes a ‘good’ brief.
