Please join the Rock Center for Corporate Governance for its first student lunch speaker series event of the year – an interactive discussion with Marty Lipton, founding partner of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz.
Marty specializes in advising major corporations on mergers and acquisitions and matters affecting corporate policy and strategy. He is well known for inventing the “poison pill” strategy for thwarting hostile takeovers, which has been described as one of the most important innovations in corporate law. Marty is also a celebrated thought leader in corporate governance. His 1992 article, “A Modest Proposal for Improved Corporate Governance”, became the template for many of the basic corporate governance principles that were adopted in subsequent years. Marty’s recent scholarship conceives of corporate governance as a collaboration among corporations, shareholders and other stakeholders working together to achieve long-term value and resist short-termism.
