In a recent LinkedIn piece, Matt Fawcett, the General Counsel of NetApp, took issue with the notion that work and life exist in mutually exclusive spheres and that the elusive “work/life balance” requires a bridge over a very high and solid wall. As he wrote, “I don’t accept the premise that work and life are two separate ideas sitting on opposite ends of a teeter-totter, where only one can get the priority at any moment, at the expense of the other. We don’t –we can’t – live successfully in this zero sum mindset.” How should we be thinking about work/life balance as lawyers in the 21st century? How do we craft a career that feeds a fulfilling life and vice versa? Please join us in this discussion with one of the top general counsel in Silicon Valley.
