Challenging Third Country Deportations Internationally: A Conversation with the Global Strategic Litigation Council
Anti-immigrant politics are rapidly reshaping the global landscape of migration governance. A central feature of these emerging regimes is the proliferation of third-country deportation agreements. Through these arrangements, the United States and European states outsource migration control to other countries, primarily in the Global South, thereby evading their obligations under international law and exposing migrants to serious human rights violations.
Join us for a conversation between Professor E. Tendayi Achiume and Bella Mosselmans, a human rights lawyer and Director of the Global Strategic Litigation Council (GSLC). The GSLC is a coalition whose mission is to use the power of people and the law to advance the rights of displaced communities worldwide. Working alongside civil society organizations in Africa, Latin America, Europe and the United States, the GSLC has been at the forefront of global advocacy and litigation challenging this emerging third-country deportation regime.
