To ensure the safety and public health of our Stanford University community, approved visitors must attest that they have screened themselves prior to arriving on Stanford campuses, do not have COVID-like symptoms, and that they are not in a restricted status requiring isolation or quarantine.
All visitors coming to a Stanford campus must attest that they meet at least one of two criteria:
1) be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
2) receive a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to arrival onsite
To attest, visitors must complete the Stanford Visitor: Daily COVID-19 Health Attestation, on the day of the event. Both the visitor and the Stanford contact will receive copies of the completed attestation form. Any visitor unable to attest, is NOT approved for onsite access.
Constitution Day Lecture with Judge Patrick J. Bumatay.
In his lecture, The Value of Dissent, Judge Bumatay will explore the purpose and normative value of dissent, discussing famous historical dissents and some of his own dissenting opinions.
Judge Patrick J. Bumatay Patrick Bumatay was confirmed as a Circuit Judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in December 2019. He is the first Filipino-American Court of Appeals judge. Prior to his appointment, Judge Bumatay served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California, where he was a member of the Appellate and Narcotics Sections. He also served as a Counselor to the Attorney General on criminal law issues, including on national opioid strategy and combating transnational organized crime. Judge Bumatay has also worked in the Office of the Deputy Attorney General, the Office of the Associate Attorney General, and the Office of Legal Policy. Judge Bumatay clerked for the Honorable Timothy M. Tymkovich of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and for the HonorableSandra L. Townes of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Judge Bumatay earned his B.A., cum laude, from Yale University and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. |
