Deepfakes: What Boards & Executives Need to Know
Deepfakes are getting harder to spot and easier to create. What began largely as a reputational and political concern is quickly becoming an operational business risk, with companies confronting executive impersonation, financial fraud, fake job candidates, fabricated evidence, and new threats to identity and authentication.
Drawing on a session first presented at Stanford Directors’ College, Breon Peace, Partner at Cleary Gottlieb, and Douglas Levin, Executive Fellow at Harvard Business School and Fellow at the Rock Center for Corporate Governance at Stanford Law School, will take a fresh look at the rapidly evolving deepfake landscape and its implications for companies, boards, and senior leaders.
What happens when seeing and hearing are no longer enough to know what is real? Breon and Doug will examine how companies should think about trust and authentication in an environment where convincing synthetic content can be created in real time, and what boards, senior executives, and legal leaders should be asking now about preparedness, response, and oversight.
