“No person shall . . . hold any office . . . who, having previously taken an oath . . . to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same . . . .” U.S. Const. amend. XIV, § 3.
Join the SLS Election Law Project for a dinner conversation with Noah Bookbinder (JD ’98), President and CEO of Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington (CREW).
Noah will discuss CREW’s current litigation in Colorado, which seeks to disqualify former President Trump from the ballot under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, based on his incitement of the January 6th Capitol attack. The case builds on CREW’s previous successful efforts to disqualify a county commissioner in New Mexico on the same theory, as well as its broader work to promote transparency and good governance through litigation and policy advocacy.
