How to win over your Tribunal?
Oral argument is one of the most exciting parts of a dispute resolution lawyer’s job, but what does it take to be truly persuasive in front of a tribunal?
Join the Stanford International Arbitration Association (SIAA) for lunch on November 4th with Professor Julio Neves, who will share the soft and hard skills that make oral advocacy effective, from opening statements to closing arguments.
Julio Neves is a Brazilian practitioner with over 20 years of experience acting both as a counsel and as an arbitrator in complex commercial disputes. He has appeared in numerous high-profile cases before Brazil’s superior courts and has sat as arbitrator in proceedings administered by leading institutions, including the ICC. He also represented the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) in debates before the Brazilian Federal Senate on the reform of the country’s civil legislation.
He will offer practical advice to JD and AD students on how to communicate more effectively and win over a tribunal.
Lunch will be provided.
