On July 6, 2016, SHRC Fellow Mirte Postema and SHRC Senior Affiliate Researcher Claret Vargas participated in the international workshop Interdisciplinary Approaches to the Protection of Human Rights: Building Integrated Networks between Academic, State, and Societal Actors. This workshop took place at Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan and was organized by Ayako Nakamura, Assistant Professor at Tohoku University and former SHRC Visiting Fellow.

Postema discussed the design and implementation of successful human rights advocacy campaigns. Vargas spoke about the effective implementation of human rights norms, in particular, those related to business and human rights.
