During the event participants from all over the globe will gather in groups and “mark up” existing laws into an XML format based on an international standard.
Tools and technologies such as the ones that will be used at the unhackathon have tremendeous potential to promote transparency, accountability, democratic participation, and good governance.
This is a great opportunity to learn about how technology is influencing law. No technical expertise is required to attend*. However, people who have technical expertise are encouraged to attend and build upon the easy tools that will be used during the unhackathon.
Some of the key areas of focus for this event will be constitutions, privacy and open government Laws. Participants can choose to work on other areas of law too.
In addition to Stanford, local events are being organized at UCHastings, in Denver, CO and in Italy.
