Contemporary Challenges in National Security Law
John Bellinger, the former Legal Adviser to the U.S. Department of State (2005-2009) and, before that, Legal Adviser to the National Security Council (2001 – 2005), will discuss current challenges for the U.S. government in international and national security law, including drones and targeted killings, closing Guantanamo, revision of the Authorization to Use Military Force act, treaties, and human rights litigation. Mr. Bellinger, who today is a partner in the national security and public international law practices of the Arnold & Porter law firm, was a key adviser on many critical national security issues during his tenure in government.
Please join us on Monday, March 10, from 12:45 – 2:00 pm (location 280A) for a talk on these timely issues by this leading public international law figure.
