Intellectual property is well-recognized as being a key asset for many companies. How do businesses use IP law to incentivize and protect their investments? How do they decide what is the scope of IP rights? How should companies handle IP disputes, either as a defendant or as a plaintiff? Renowned IP litigator, Dale Cendali, will discuss these issues with senior in-house counsel from two different industries. Dorian Daley, the General Counsel of Oracle will discuss its long-running dispute with Google regarding the use of Java in Android as well as other issues concerning IP and technology companies. Peter Welch, the Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel of video game company Take Two software, will discuss cutting edge legal issues involving video games, including the use of tattoos to accurately depict real people who bear them, dance moves, and issues involving protection of fans. Lisa Larrimore Ouellette, Associate Professor at Stanford Law School, will moderate the discussion.

This session, the Sixth Annual Kirkland & Ellis Law Forum, will bring together leading practitioners to discuss their views on IP issues that can impact your company.
