INTERVIEWING SKILLS FOR PUBLIC POLICY RESEARCH

Join the Policy Lab to learn how to interview stakeholders, clients, witnesses, and other key players involved in your projects and cases for law and policy. You will learn the stance and techniques needed to develop empathy and gain trust with those you interview, including how to build an “empathy map” and how to lead a semi-structured interview that tracks key themes across stakeholders. Professor Bill Koski, Education and Policy Law Clinic Faculty Director, will ground you with fundamentals in ethnographic interviewing techniques; and then you’ll put it all together in an interactive simulation with feedback from faculty and colleagues. This workshop is part of the “Elements of Policy Analysis” (LAW 7846) workshop series but all are welcome!
