Professor Marc Galanter
A leading figure in the empirical study of the legal system, Professor Galanter has been President of the Law and Society Association, editor of the Law & Society Review, Chair of the International Commission on Folk Law and Legal Pluralism, a Guggenheim Fellow, and a Fellow of the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences. He is a member of the American Law Institute and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Professor Lawrence M. Friedman
An internationally renowned, prize-winning legal historian, Professor Friedman has for a generation been the leading expositor of the history of American law to a global audience of lawyers and lay people alike—and a leading figure in the law and society movement. Professor Friedman is a prolific author on crime and punishment, and his numerous books have been translated into multiple languages. He is the recipient of six honorary law degrees and is a fellow in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
