Law & Society Film Screening #1: American Promise (USA)

- This event has passed.
Five decades after of the landmark desegregation decision of Brown v. Board of Education, the struggle for closing the black educational achievement gap continues. American Promise, a 2013 Sundance Film Festival winner documentary, tells the story of two black boys who are admitted to a highly prestigious – and historically white – private school in Manhattan. The film spans 13 years of these boys’ lives, tracking the challenges they encounter in a world that formally accepts them yet presents obstacles in their path to fit in.
Join us for a screening of this thought-provoking film, followed by a discussion with SLS Professor Rick Banks.
