One of President Trump’s first acts in office was to issue an executive order purporting to withhold federal law-enforcement grants from “sanctuary cities,” jurisdictions that in some respects refuse to assist federal efforts to deport undocumented immigrants.
Led by Santa Clara County and the City and County of San Francisco, many municipalities around the country have filed suit against the executive order. Please join the American Constitution Society for a panel discussion on the law and politics of sanctuary jurisdictions.
Featuring:
- Danielle Goldstein, Deputy County Counsel, Santa Clara Office of the County Counsel
- Mollie Lee, Deputy City Attorney, San Francisco City Attorney’s Office
- Laura Garnette, Chief Probation Officer, County of Santa Clara
Moderated by:
- Jayashri Srikantiah, Professor of Law and founding Director of the Immigrants’ Rights Clinic, Stanford Law School
