A free six-session workshop for SLS students
What: Mindfulness meditation is a practice of training the mind to pay attention to one’s moment-to-moment experience in a non-judgmental, non-reactive way. Benefits include calming the mind, reducing stress, and cultivating greater focus, concentration and self-awareness. The practice will be taught in a secular way, and is appropriate for participants of any or no religious background. Mindfulness Meditation has been featured on the cover of TIME magazine and on 60 Minutes, and is taught at Google, in hospitals, and in schools.
When and Where: The workshop will be held on Tuesdays, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM on the following dates: April 11, 18, 25, May 2, 9 and 16. The first session (only) will take place in the Manning Faculty Lounge and subsequent sessions will be held in the CIRCLE Sanctuary, located on the 3rd floor of Stanford’s Old Union.
Sign-up: Since the sessions build on each other, students should not sign up unless they plan to attend every session. The deadline to sign up is noon on Friday, April 7. Workshop is limited to 20 participants and consent of the instructor is required. Please note that this class does not offer law school credit.
