A panel discussion with Moshe Maoz, Allen Weiner, and Byron Bland
Dr Moshe Ma’oz is Professor of Islamic and Middle Eastern studies, at the Hebrew University, in Jerusalem, Israel. He has published widely on Islamic and Middle Eastern history and politics, and notably on Syria and Palestine, Arab-Israeli relations and ethnic minorities. Professor Ma'oz has served as an adviser to Israeli prime ministers and a defense minister. He has also been a visiting professor and scholar at institutions including Harvard, Georgetown, the United States Institute of Peace, Brookings and the Wilson Centre.
Allen Weiner is Senior Lecturer in Law at the Stanford Law School, and his expertise covers such wide-ranging fields as international and national security law, the law of war, international conflict resolution, and international criminal law (including transitional justice). He is the Co-Director of the Stanford Center on International Conflict and Negotiation, and Director of the Stanford Program in International and Comparative Law.
Byron Bland is Ombuds and Chaplain at Palo Alto University, and Senior Consultant at the Stanford Center on International Conflict and Negotiation. He has been involved in grassroots dialogue and peacebuilding efforts in Northern Ireland and Israel/Palestine over the course of two decades.
