Lawyers are in the business of persuasive communication. From jury trials to oral arguments to settlement conferences, skillful attorneys must master the art of successfully crafting (and delivering) winning arguments. Drawing on her experiences as a prosecutor at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and the latest research on how people perceive information and form decisions, Elizabeth Pederson offers advice on how prepare to succeed as an oral advocate in law and in life.
A recent Bay Area transplant, Elizabeth Pederson spent nearly 4 years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan DA’s Office, where she focused on domestic violence and sex trafficking cases. Currently, Elizabeth is clerking for the Honorable Jacqueline Scott Corley in the Northern District of California. Elizabeth graduated Order of the Coif with Pro Bono Distinction from Stanford Law School in 2007, where she was a Public Interest Fellow and the Symposium Editor on the Executive Board of the Stanford Law Review. She also earned a M.P.A. from the Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan as a Frey Foundation Fellow and a B.A. summa cum laude with highest honors from Brandeis University. Prior to law school, Elizabeth served in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica.
