The Neukom Center for the Rule of Law is honored to welcome Justice Margarita Ríos-Farjat of the Mexican Supreme Court as part of its Rule of Law Speaker Series. A distinguished jurist, academic, and former Commissioner of Mexico’s Tax Administration Service, Justice Ríos-Farjat is internationally recognized for her expertise in law and governance. She will discuss challenges to the rule of law in Mexico, including judicial independence, institutional reform, and the recent shift to electing judges and Supreme Court justices by popular vote—a controversial reform that has sparked debate over its impact on judicial accountability and independence.
The panel will feature Gianmarco Coronado Graci (Stanford Public Policy School), Diego A. Zambrano (Faculty Director of the Neukom Center), and Nicola Tommasini (Rule of Law Fellow), providing broader insights into the implications of these reforms for democracy and governance. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to engage with one of Mexico’s most influential legal voices.
This event is co-sponsored by The Neukom Center for the Rule of Law, Stanford Latinx Law Students Association (SLLSA), and the Mexican Association of Graduate Students (MAGS).
