Justice Dong-won Lee earned his bachelor’s degree from Korea University College of Law in 1986. He was first appointed as a judge in 1991 of the Seoul Criminal District Court. Justice Lee has served in various courts throughout his judicial career, including as a presiding judge of the Seoul Central District Court, presiding judge of the Seoul High Court, research judge and research presiding judge of the Supreme Court, and the Chief Judge of the Jeju District Court. On August 2, 2018, he was appointed as Justice of the Supreme Court of Korea. Justice Lee’s intellectual commitment to the field of law is evident in his extensive research and commentaries on judicial decisions. His expertise is in bankruptcy law and environmental law, and he is renowned for his deep understanding of legal theories. He served as the Chairman of the Committee for Compendium on Court Practice – Civil Procedure, where he led the publication of its revised edition in 2017. |
