Hockey Game and Talk by President of Business Operations Ari Segal, JD/MBA ’13

The Stanford Law and GSB San Diego Alumni Chapters invite you and your family to cheer on the San Diego Gulls as they take on the San Antonio Rampage.

The group will meet before the game for an exclusive talk and Q&A by Stanford alum and Gulls President of Business Operations Ari Segal, JD/MBA ’13. Mr. Segal will provide an overview of the team and the American Hockey League, and will talk about the interconnectivity between the San Diego Gulls and its NHL parent club, the Anaheim Ducks. As an added bonus, he will talk about the business side of bringing the Gulls back to San Diego and how the deal came together.

About the Speaker: Ari Segal, JD/MBA ’13

Mr. Segal is the President of Business Operations for the San Diego Gulls, the Anaheim Ducks’ San Diego-based American Hockey League affiliate and Special Assistant to Ducks CEO Michael Schulman. He has been a consultant to Schulman for the last three years, advising on a range of special projects including preparations for the new AHL club. Currently, Mr. Segal oversees all aspects of the Gulls’ business operations, including sales, marketing, PR & communications, community relations, and game operations. He also worked in the National Hockey League’s broadcast media strategy group, evaluating league and club broadcast rights and distribution deals.

Previously, Mr. Segal was an associate with McKinsey & Company in the firm’s sports practice, advising clients on business and performance strategy and operations with a focus on maximizing player performance through improved care and development. He received his MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar, and his JD from Stanford Law School in 2013. He worked in private equity with CCMP Capital Advisors from 2007-09 and in investment banking with Lehman Brothers from 2005-07. Mr. Segal graduated from the University of Virginia with distinction in 2005. He serves on the Board of Trustees for the Pacific South Coast Chapter of the National MS Society and on the Advisory Board of Directors of CrowdPoll, a user content and engagement application.
