- This event has passed.
Join the American Constitution Society of Stanford Law School in conversation with the Honorable Michelle Friedland, Circuit Judge on the Ninth Circuit.
Judge Friedland (B.S. ’95, J.D. ’00) clerked for Judge David Tatel on the D.C. Circuit and Justice Sandra Day O’Connor on the Supreme Court. After two years lecturing at Stanford Law School, Judge Friedland joined the law firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson, where she became a litigation partner in 2010. While in private practice, Judge Friedland worked on significant public interest projects, including work challenging California’s 2008 Proposition 8 which banned same-sex marriage equality. For her pro bono engagement, Judge Friedland received the 2009 ACLU of Southern California’s LGBT Award and the State Bar of California’s 2013 President’s Pro Bono Service Award. President Obama nominated Judge Friedland to the Ninth Circuit in 2013, where she has served since confirmation in 2014.
