Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), a member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, is one of the Senate's most forceful advocates for addressing the threat of climate change. He has raised the profile of the issue with a climate speech on the floor of the Senate every week the Senate is in session, with the 50th delivered last November. The speeches highlight the science of climate change and offer paths for the United States to take strong action. He and Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA) recently created a bicameral climate change task-force. Senator Whitehouse will talk about the policy — and politics — of addressing climate change in Washington D.C., at the state level, and globally.
Lunch will be provided.
