Internet intermediaries play a central role in enabling freedom of expression and access to information online. On the other hand, these intermediaries are frequently enlisted to help law enforcement authorities and third parties seeking to remove content from the internet or seeking information about users.
Emerging platforms and social networks are at the forefront of the intermediary liability debate, and face an enormous legal challenge to comply with different rules while expanding their services internationally.
To address this topic, the next SILLab meeting will have as a guest Mr. Alex Feerst, leader of the Legal and Trust & Safety teams at Medium, where’s he worked since 2015. Mr. Feerst will address some of the most recent and important legal problems faced by Medium and explore other emerging challenges that online platforms are facing in different jurisdictions.
As usual, the SILLab will be also an opportunity to discuss your possible involvement with CIS activities in the field of intermediary liability, term papers you might be writing at the intersection between Internet law and intermediary liability, and contributions to the World Intermediary Liability Map (WILMap).
Pizza will be served!
