We are excited to announce a new student organization at SLS, Stanford Law Students Against Gender-Based Violence (SLSGV, pronounced “S-L-S-Give”)!
As an undergrad, were you involved in campus sexual assault prevention? Have you ever volunteered at a domestic violence shelter, or worked to prevent human trafficking of any form? Have you ever been curious about how lawyers can help prevent, reduce, and respond to interpersonal, sexual, or gender-based violence? Looking for a new way to get involved in pro bono work?? Whether you want to make this work a part of your career or a part of your pro bono, SLSGV is for you!
There has been interest among SLS students in topics related to gender-based violence for some time, so a group of 1Ls came together to create SLSGV. We look forward to engaging all of you (men and women!) in our efforts to use and develop our skills in this important work.
SLSGV will create opportunities for students to participate in curricular and extracurricular activities focused on combating domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Through pro bono opportunities, coursework, policy labs, panels, open discussions, and other events, we engage students in advocacy and provide opportunities for students to develop professional skills.
Our official launch is Monday, February 20, at 6:00 PM, 280B. Come on over and hear about the exciting opportunities we have planned for this year!
