Come and learn about the practice of arbitration today. Experienced professionals and experts in the field are coming to SLS to share their experience and opinions on key aspects of modern arbitration rules and practice.
The first panel (10:00-12:30) will address the issue of fairness and arbitration in domestic consumer and labor arbitration. The speakers, including Stanford Law School's Jan Martinez, will discuss recent Supreme Court decisions regarding consumers' rights, the current draft of the Arbitration Fairness Act, and how to create a better forum for disputes between consumers, employees, and businesses.
The second panel (1:30-4:00) will feature international arbitration practitioners discussing sub-topics on IP, institutional arbitration and the new ICC Rules. All speakers will also share “war-stories” with the audience in an effort to better illustrate the fascinating practice of modern arbitration.
The Conference will feature breakfast and a lunch buffet, and will conclude with a cocktail reception to allow students to interact with speakers on a more informal basis.
