In our careers as lawyers, we will be dealing with clients who are going through difficult times in their lives. Law school provides us with the excellent legal background we need to become good lawyers. But in order to have the most effective relationships with our future clients, it will be helpful to know how to respond to them on an emotional level as well. Please join us to learn concrete strategies for developing the trust-building and listening skills necessary to become a truly great lawyer!
The Parallel Justice Pro Bono Project presents: Techniques for Compassionate Lawyering. This panel discussion will include Carla Richmond, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the San Francisco Trauma Recovery Center (TRC), as well as a number of speakers from the TRC's Speakers Bureau. These speakers are survivors of interpersonal violence who have generously offered to share their stories with us. They will offer firsthand insights about how we as lawyers can respond compassionately to clients who have been through trauma.
