“The Alabama Solution” Screening
- This event has passed.
All progressive movements in the United States come face-to-face with the repression of the US carceral system, which systematically extracts profit from Black and Brown communities, immigrants, and the working poor. Grassroots organizing across the country teach us of the upmost importance of organizing locally against the carceral system, and the ever-present need to educate working people on the current state of incarceration. Please join student organizers and graduate workers for a discussion and film screening of “The Alabama Solution,” a recent film highlighting the courageous general strike across Alabama state prisons. We will contextualize this film screening in the current local fights against incarceration in the Bay Area with speakers from the Stanford Prison Abolition and Resource Coalition (SPARC), Stanford Jail and Prison Education Program (SJPEP), Stanford Decarceration Collective (SDC), and Critical Carceral Studies Collective.
Please join us on Thursday April 23, at 5 PM in AllenX 101X for this event. Food and beverages will be provided!
