Public Policy Data with Prof John Donohue 2
SLS Professor John Donohue has built a career implementing empirical data to change laws and policies related to the death penalty and gun control. His recent research, for example, shows that when more people carry guns, violent crime increases. Through this workshop, you will learn how he develops data-driven research questions and the challenges he has faced utilizing statistical techniques to shift the thinking of judges, policymakers, and the public. You will discover the importance of crafting guiding questions carefully to assemble data that can be refined statistically.  And you will be inspired to think critically through an empirical lens in areas that motivate your work as a lawyer and policy analyst.
Professor Donohue is part of the law and economics movement which seeks to empower law through modern empirical techniques.

This workshop is part of the Elements of Policy Analysis course.  All are welcome!
