Please join YEA (Youth & Education Advocates) this Tuesday in Room 185 for an engaging lunchtime discussion with Rigel Massaro, staff attorney at Public Advocates in San Francisco.* Rigel will discuss her work, which is uniquely centered around the intersection of law and education, and explain the “near-landmark” case CQE v. California, which almost revolutionized our state’s public education funding system.
After a brief lecture, there will be plenty of time for questions, as well as a discussion of legal careers that focus on education policy and/or reform. Free Asian Box will be provided!
*Public Advocates Inc. is a nonprofit law firm and advocacy organization that challenges the systemic causes of poverty and racial discrimination by strengthening community voices in public policy and achieving tangible legal victories advancing education, housing and transit equity. We spur change through collaboration with grassroots groups representing low-income communities, people of color and immigrants, combined with strategic policy reform, media advocacy and litigation, “making rights real” across California since 1971.
