Under Strain: Managing Load Growth from Data Center Energy Demand

The explosion in data center development has triggered record-breaking demand growth across the U.S. electricity grid, raising urgent questions about climate goals, energy justice, and regulatory reform in the face of rising demand. Stanford’s Climate and Energy Policy Program (CEPP) and the Environmental and Natural Resources Law & Policy Program (ENRLP) are hosting (virtually) Tyler Norris, James B. Duke Fellow at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment, and the national expert on how to manage load growth from data centers. Drawing from over a decade of experience in energy markets and policy in both the government and industry, Norris will explore how “load flexibility” is a key to dealing with near-term soaring energy demand.
