International Commercial Arbitration Team Recruitment
Interested in international arbitration? Never heard of it? Curious?
This spring, four of your fellow students formed Stanford’s first ever team to compete at the Willem C Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition in Vienna, Austria.
The Vis Moot gives participants a hands-on experience with the application of both substantive and procedural international commercial law, particularly the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). A team may choose to argue in either the Vienna—200+ teams—or Hong Kong—100+ teams—competition, held around the beginning of the spring quarter. Both competitions are rooted in the same set of facts and require teams to apply the CISG, as well as the applicable procedural law, to the dispute at issue. The competition offers a great introduction both to the field of commercial arbitration and to some of its leading practitioners.
The team requires 2 members, ideally at least four, and can have more, too. Come hear Bobby Fischbeck, Jamie Kendall, Julia Kropp, and Alex Westerfield speak about their experiences in this competition.
Please feel free to email julia.kropp@gmail.com if you cannot make that time but are still interested.
