Biography
Huma is a first-year Master of Social Work student at San Jose State University. She is currently working at the Youth and Education Law Project and has previously worked at the Criminal Defense Clinic. YELP supports clients in ensuring that they receive equal and deserving educational rights. The CDC aims to represent low-income populations and provide client-centered representation in a wide range of misdemeanor offenses. At YELP and CDC, Huma works alongside a team of law students and supervising attorneys to support clients in many ways, such as referral linkage, supportive counseling, record review, advocacy, and crisis intervention. In the future, Huma plans to work toward obtaining licensure and serve her community as a medical social worker, preferably in psychiatry. When she’s not at the clinic, Huma can be found spending time with her family or exploring new and fun places to eat!
