Protecting Dissent: Protest and Assembly Rights in the U.S.

Student Work

Since April 2012, students have been working with clinical supervisors to conduct a study of government responses to Occupy protests in Oakland and San Francisco. The study considers whether authorities have adequately protected the rights to free speech and peaceful assembly guaranteed by constitutional and international law. This is a joint initiative of human rights, civil liberties and constitutional law clinics, including New York University, Fordham University, Harvard Law School, Loyola University New Orleans, and Rutgers School of Law.
