Biography
Laura Aade is a PhD Candidate in consumer law and platform governance at the University of Luxembourg. Her interdisciplinary research combines law and social sciences to explore the rise of e-commerce on social media platforms and the role of consumer protection in this context.
Currently, she is conducting visiting research stays at the University of Minnesota Law School and Northeastern University School of Law to explore EU-US parallels on this specific topic. Laura is also an Affiliate Researcher to the ERC Starting Grant #HumanAds project, studying fairness in the content creator economy, with a focus on advertising and influencer marketing.
Laura has published several academic contributions and has contributed to multiple policy briefs for the UK Parliament, the European Commission, and the French Government, particularly on issues related to influencer marketing and the fitness of consumer protection for the digital age. She has received several awards in recognition of her research, and has presented her work at leading transatlantic conferences in the fields of platform governance (e.g. PlatGovNet) and consumer protection (e.g International Association of Consumer Law).
Laura graduated from the United Nations University (cum laude) with a Master’s in Public Policy and Human Development, specializing in Governance of Innovation, and holds a Bachelor of Laws in European Law from Maastricht University (Netherlands). She joined TTLF as an Affiliate in September 2024.
