Visiting Distinguished Judge

The Neukom Center for the Rule of Law at Stanford Law School welcomes one distinguished judge each year to be in residence and participate in the life of the Center and the broader law school community. During their time at Stanford, the visiting judge engages with faculty, students, and staff through events, discussions, and collaborative activities that enrich the Center’s mission to explore and promote the rule of law around the world. This residency fosters meaningful dialogue between the judiciary and the academic community, offering unique perspectives on legal systems, constitutional norms, and the challenges facing the rule of law today.

2025 Visiting Distinguished Judge - Mirosław Wyrzykowski

From January-March 2025, the Neukom Center for the Rule of Law at Stanford Law School welcomed Judge Mirosław Wyrzykowski as its inaugural Visiting Distinguished Judge. Judge Wyrzykowski, a former judge of the Constitutional Tribunal of Poland and professor emeritus at the University of Warsaw, has had a distinguished career in constitutional law and human rights. He has chaired the Human Rights Department at the University of Warsaw since 2006 and served as a member of the Prime Minister’s Legislative Council. During his residency at Stanford, Judge Wyrzykowski actively engaged with students and faculty, delivering lectures and participating in discussions that enriched the academic community’s understanding of the rule of law in a global context. His visit facilitated meaningful exchanges, providing valuable insights into the challenges and developments in constitutionalism and human rights
