The firm’s wrongful death and products liability practices have been steadily active over the years, Specter said, but its medical malpractice work has been its strongest department. Kline & Specter boasts five doctor lawyers, or attorneys with medical degrees, giving the firm an extra advantage in litigation.

“Medical malpractice has been our biggest strength since our inception,” Specter said. “Our five doctor lawyers are the most of any firm in the country, and it has been a huge advantage for us in analyzing and developing malpractice matters.”

The strength of Kline & Specter’s medical malpractice team led it to earn a record $207 million verdict against the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania in 2023 in a case where it was accused of causing an infant to suffer catastrophic birth injuries. Kline & Specter successfully upheld the verdict in Pennsylvania Superior Court in July 2025.

“We’ve available to assist on a number of important public causes,” Specter said. “The number of cases has grown in recent years. One of those efforts is to democratize Pennsylvania’s voting process. We are one of the few states that doesn’t permit unaffiliated voters to vote in primaries. The Pennsylvania Constitution calls for free and equal elections, and we believe the current system is not free and legal.”
