Summary

The U.S. Supreme Court is set to grapple with critical questions related to arbitration and others affecting tribal tax liability and international organizations when it returns to the bench Monday for the second oral argument session of the October 2018 term.

The court will hear six cases between Monday and Wednesday, ranging from the mechanics of the Federal Arbitration Act to the fairness of a settlement between Google Inc. and third parties. One is a criminal case, Garza v. Idaho, which will be the second case heard on Tuesday.

Arguing for the petitioners will be Jeffrey Fisher of Stanford Law School, with support from Jonathan Ellis, an assistant to the U.S. solicitor general. Donald B. Verrilli Jr. of Munger Tolles and Olson LLP will represent the IFC.
