Summary

PALO ALTO, CA – Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, today announced that it has established new ongoing fellowships programs at Stanford Law School and the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley.

The programs, funded by the Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Foundation, award a three-year fellowship to one student at each school with an exceptional academic record who is entering his or her first year of law school; preference is given to students from under-represented communities or economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Recipients will be designated as Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati scholars for the duration of their fellowships.

“This is the latest in a string of generous gifts from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati to Boalt, and it couldn’t come at a better time,” said Dean Christopher Edley, Jr., of the Boalt Hall School of Law. “Students today face unprecedented financial barriers and debt burdens. Our mission of providing a world-class education that prepares leaders for all our communities and all parts of the profession requires a commitment to access and inclusion. It wouldn’t be possible without indispensable partners like Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.”

Expressing similar sentiment, Larry Kramer, dean of Stanford Law School and a Richard E. Lang Professor of Law, said, “This is a wonderful and very generous act by Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. The fellowship enables deserving students from under-represented communities to come here to earn their degrees. In so doing, it benefits not only the recipient, but also enriches the law school and the legal profession.”
